1 Jun 2017 - Iceland Day 7: Mt. Hverfjall, Tephra Explosion Crater

We could see Mt. Hverfjall at a distance and that's where we were heading to next.
This 396 meter (1,300 ft) high tephra explosion crater is located near the eastern shore of Lake Myvatn in northern Iceland.
After we parked our car at the foot of the crater, we embarked on a hike to the top of the crater.
It was quite tiring to walk up the steep slope but it offers a great view of the Lake Myvatn area.
We finally managed to get to the rim of the crater, which is approcimately 1 km in diameter.
We had a sense of achievement at the top of the crater which offers otherworldly and awesome view of the surrounding landscape.
The wind here was so strong that at one point, we felt like we were going to get blown away.
It's extremely challenging to take a wefie under such a windy condition.  We returned to our car after we were satisfied with the following shot.  :-)
