29 May 2017 - Iceland Day 4: Seljalandsfoss

Our next stop is Seljalandsfoss, one of the most well known waterfalls in Iceland.
As it was still raining when we reached, we decided to put on our shoe covers before heading to the waterfall.
The waterfall drops 60 m (197 ft) and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull.
One of the interesting things about this waterfall is that visitors can walk behind it into a small cave.
Since we were already in our rain coats and with our shoe covers on, we were all set to walk behind the waterfall.
It was an amazing feeling to be standing behind the waterfall.  Makes me feel like I am in the 水帘洞 (Cave of water curtain) of 花果山 (Mountain of flowers and fruits), as described in the popular Chinese Novel, "Journey to the West" (西游记).
Below are the view from behind the waterfall at various angles.
As it was raining, the path became very wet and slippery and made it quite difficult for the kids to climb back up the rocks.
This is indeed a unique waterfall.  Had it not been raining, we would have enjoyed the experience even more.
